Rock or not
September 9, 2007 on 6:09 am | In ArtEnergetic and extraordinary…this we can say about Pink. She began performing in Philadelphia clubs when she was fourteen years old with a good friend Jessica Hanslow. At age sixteen, she joined the RB Atlanta-based trio Choice, which included Chrissy Conway of the Christian girl group ZOEgirl. The group signed with LaFace Records and contributed “Key to My Heart” to the soundtrack of the 1996 film Kazaam. Choice eventually disbanded after recording an unreleased album; Moore remained at LaFace as a solo act under the stage name Pink. Daryl Simmons took her to recordings where she sang backing vocals for artists such as Diana Ross, 98 Degrees. Pink’s debut single, the dance track “Gonna Make Ya Move (Don’t Stop)”, was released in the UK in 1998 by Activ Records and appeared on the UK top 200. One of the most successful song in her career was a single for the Moulin Rouge recorded by singers Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya and
Pink as a film soundtrack. Their version was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. for five weeks, from May 26 to June 30, 2001. The Moulin Rouge! Version of “Lady Marmalade” was also a number-one hit in the United Kingdom and Australia, introducing the song to a whole new generation of music listeners, and brought the song’s infamous catchphrase back into mainstream culture.
To the list of energetic and innovative we can add also young singer Avril Lavigne. Canadian singer Avril Lavigne since childhood wanted to become a rock star. “When I was junior, I often stand on bed and imagine I stand on stage. I sang and dream about thousand of people who listen to me, holding the breath, “says Avril. She made it, she reached her goal: now she can sing anywhere, and what she
The last release of Avril “The Best Damn Thing” has been launched on April 17, 2007. Avril described her new job as “fast, fun, young, aggressive, coolly, saucily, ugly, playful… in general, all the best in her life.” This album contains also the largest number of indecent expressions for the whole career of the young singer. With Avril worked her husband Derek Uibli and the whole producers team; on several songs were recorded with Trevis Barker from “Blink 182”. In childhood Jon Bon Jovi also dreamed to be a rock star. By the way, this he turned out not bad. Jon Bon Jovi got his start in the music business doing odd jobs at his cousin Tony Bongiovi’s famous Power Station Studio. One of the demos he cut there became a local hit thanks to a New Jersey radio station, which led to his band’s signing with Polygram in 1983. The band hit its stride with their third album, Slippery When Wet, and continued that success with the similar sounding New Jersey. In 1990, Jon composed the music for the Young Guns II soundtrack (in which he also had a cameo), which included “Blaze of Glory,” his first No. 1 solo hit.
In June 2007, Bon Jovi released their new tenth studio album, Lost Highway. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard charts, the first time that Bon Jovi has had a number one album on the US charts since the release of New Jersey in 1988. Thanks to the band’s new country music fan base, the album sold 292,000 copies in its first week on sale in the U.S., and became Bon Jovi’s third US number one album.
