Showboating is a “crime”, when it happens on the casting in a business school.

July 7, 2008 on 2:57 pm | In Educational

Fantastic! You know what is term paper and imagine how to work with this, you are even a specialist in dissertation writingbut have a problem with essay! You need to remember the main thing, while writing essay to the Business school. Don’t showboating! Business school applicants tend to go overboard when talking about their accomplishments, rather than reflecting on their experiences, they will name-drop or roll off a list of their accomplishments - information that is already included in other parts of their application. When this happens, the reader is put off and doesn’t get a sense of who the applicant really is. For example, a typical B-school application essay will ask applicants to talk about their leadership skills or what leadership means to them. One trap applicants fall into is rolling off a list of their accomplishments, boasting about everything from how they won an award at work to how they were the youngest person on their team to be promoted to the executive level. While it’s useful to mention these accomplishments, it is up to the applicant to put this information into context. A smart move is to use the essay as a vehicle to explain what their accomplishments mean in the progress of their careers and how they have changed them as individuals.

Concentration on dissertation.

June 17, 2008 on 3:44 pm | In Educational

Thesis writing is often billed as the capstone undergraduate experience, a long-term project meant to top off four years of study and allow students to try their hand at a chosen discipline. It allows you to see what it means to take on a project that has some heft to it. This is a kind of skill that will serve you all your life. But while it may cap senior year, much of the thesis-writing process, a task undertaken by about half of each graduating class, is left to chance. Some students are advised by senior faculty, others by graduate students. Some concentrations teach the senior tutorial as a course with regular meeting times and loose assignments; others leave students to shape their work more autonomously. In some concentrations, advisers grade the dissertation, in others, theses are read “blind” by professors, lecturers, or graduate students less familiar with the thesis writer’s work and topic. If you want your dissertation work to be written in perfect way, you just obliged to turn to our help ;) We designed this site for you, due to which you can order a dissertation on any theme at our custom term papers office. So, here you are low prices, high quality, fast work and pleasant professional personal you are working with!

Arizona SAT Preparation

March 23, 2008 on 2:03 am | In Educational

There are many ways to familiarize yourself with the format of the SAT. Familiarization is a great way to help alleviate test day anxieties. The following list has ways to help you become accustomed to the SAT.

Become comfortable with the SAT’s format: When practicing, simulate the conditions of the actual test. Pace yourself. Stay calm. After repeating this process a few times, you are boosting your chances of performing well on test day. Success breeds confidence, and your successes here will give you much more confidence on test day - Arizona SAT preparation
Read all of the possible answers: If you believe you know the correct answer to a question, it is best not to assume that your answer is automatically the correct answer. Read through all answer choices to ensure that you are not making an error by jumping to conclusions.

Use the process of elimination: Examine each answer to a question. Eliminate as many of the answer choices as possible. By eliminating just two answer choices, you have given you’re a better chance of the getting the correct answer out of the remaining three answer choices. Guess only if you can eliminate at least two answers. Remember that wrong answers are always penalized.

You don’t have to answer every question: You are not penalized for not answering every question. Questions left blank are not counted. Maximize this advantage by using a smart guessing strategy to questions where you are unsure of the right answer. Always keep in mind that if you are truly stumped, you do not have to answer, especially because ? point is deducted for every wrong answer on multiple-choice questions.

Work quickly and steadily: You will only have 20 to 30 minutes to work on each section. Working quickly and steadily helps you avoid focusing too much attention and time on any one problem. Use the practice exams in this book to help you manage your timing.

Learn the directions and format for each section of the test: Familiarize yourself with the directions and form of each of the different test sections. This will help you avoid “direction shock” later on during the test, when you might read directions that were better read at the start of the test. Shocks like these cause nervousness. Nervousness causes mistakes. And these kinds of mistakes are completely avoidable.

Work on the easier questions first: The questions for each section of the SAT are arranged in ascending order of difficulty. The easier questions are at the beginning of each section, while the more difficult ones are at the end of the section. If you find yourself working too long on a single question, make a mark next to it in the test booklet and continue with the next question. After you have answered the remaining questions, return to the ones you skipped.

Mark answers carefully: Be sure that the answer sheet oval corresponds to the question and answer of your test booklet: Because the multiple-choice sections are graded mechanically, marking one wrong answer in this way can throw off your answer key and thus ruin your score. Be extremely careful.

Eliminating obviously wrong answers: Sometimes an SAT question has one or two answer choices that appear odd or out of place. These answers may be obviously wrong for one or more reasons:

• Impossible to achieve given the problem’s conditions
• Violation of mathematical rules or principles
• Simply illogical

Being able to spot obviously wrong answers before you finish a problem gives you an advantage because you are able to make a better educated guess from the remaining choices. This works best when you find yourself unable to fully solve a problem.

Working from answer choices: Turn the multiple-choice format to your advantage by working backwards from the answer choices to solve a problem. This strategy is not applicable to all questions, but it is helpful when you can plug choices into a given formula or equation. The answer choices often narrow the scope of responses allowing you to make an educated guess based on eliminating choices that you know do not fit the problem.

Jock Itch - Causes, Prevention and Treatment Methods

January 4, 2008 on 9:01 am | In Educational

If you’ve ever had jock itch, you know how utterly unbearable it can be.
Jock itch is a fungal infection that occurs in a person’s groin area. Jock itch usually occurs in men aged 18-40, but women can get it, as well. This infection is very similar to athlete’s foot and can actually happen as a result of athlete’s foot: the fungus can spread from your feet to your groin area. Fungus can travel on bedding, clothing and towels.

Jock itch causes a burning sensation and chaffed, itchy and irritated skin rashes. Jock itch usually occurs in damp, dark areas where the fungus can grow and hide. It can happen in folds of skin, especially if you’re overweight or you sweat a lot from hot, humid weather or sports.

Prevention

In order to prevent getting jock itch, you should:

* avoid synthetic fibers, try wearing cotton underwear
* wear loose cotton clothing so your skin can breathe and so your sweat can evaporate
* not share towels and intimate apparel with others
* make sure you rinse off all soap when showering and dry well
* put a little talcum powder down there to suck up extra moisture
* make sure your feet are covered first, with socks, before you put anything else on on, such as underwear
* wash your socks and your underwear separately

Treatment

To treat jock itch, you can try over-the-counter medications labeled as treatment for jock itch. Don’t try to wash the jock itch away… this may actually make it worse. Don’t use home remedies for athlete’s foot in your groin area. Medication for athlete’s foot is too strong for your groin area! If after trying over-the counter medication, you still have the annoying itch, see a health care provider or dermatologist (skin doctor). They can help you get rid of the itch.

HIV Testing Introduction

November 7, 2007 on 11:11 am | In Educational

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). HIV destroys the body’s immune system and leads to AIDS. People with AIDS develop many diseases and “opportunistic” infections (such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, cancer, and skin infections) that ultimately lead to death. There is no cure for HIV/AIDS. Prevention is critical. If you have been exposed to the HIV virus in any number of ways, you can be tested to see if you have the HIV antibodies.

How HIV is transmitted

The HIV virus can be transmitted by unprotected sexual contact (vaginal, anal, or oral sex), sharing needles, transfused blood products, mother to newborn (30% risk), and occupational needlestick exposures. From the minute the HIV enters the body, the virus begins replicating at a rate of 10 billion new specimens per day.

Some 90% of all new HIV infections occur in developing countries, such as in Africa and Asia, where the vast majority of cases are transmitted by sexual relations between men and women (heterosexual intercourse).

In the United States, the vast majority of cases are known to have been transmitted by homosexuals and IV drug abusers. Among homosexuals, it appears that the receptive partner during anal intercourse is placed at highest risk for disease transmission. Heterosexual transmission is on the rise from 5% in 1980 to 8% currently. Among heterosexuals, male-to-female transmission is much more likely to occur than female-to-male transmission. Among women with HIV, heterosexual contact is the most common source of infection.

Some people know, some have just suggested what is braindump and for what does it need. There are few approaches to braindump: first one, tell us that
braindumps mean, the transfer of a large quantity of information from one person to another or to a piece of paper; another one more closer to
our problem, means in slang, a hurried explanation of a system, job, skillset, or other software engineering subject. In computing, braindump describes the taking of a snapshot of the internal state of a knowledge database for transfer or archiving purposes. Thus, the copying of any dataset might be called a ‘braindump’ if its contents could be colloquially referred to as a ‘brain’. The braindump process is rather interesting and fascinating process. There are special small programs which help you to make this process more easiest. Like testking provide you the complete coverage of the certification exams.

NASAA Series 66 Exam Overview

October 10, 2007 on 4:10 pm | In Educational

If you want to be able to both trade securities, and also be able to practice as an investment adviser to private clients, one way of reducing the cost and time necessary to achieve both of these career goals is to take the Uniform Combined State Law Examination, or Series 66 exam, which is administered by FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (formerly NASD)) on behalf of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA). Instead of taking both the Uniform Securities Agent test (Series 63) and the Investment Adviser test (Series 65), you can kill two birds with one stone by taking the Series 66 exam to obtain Series 66 license. The test will require you to understand the Uniform Securities Act, which allows qualified brokers to trade securities in all fifty states, along with basic stock market terms and definitions, and rules for soliciting clients and handling their accounts. In addition, you’ll also need to understand risk, different investment types, appropriate investments for different kinds of investors, interest rates and their effects, retirement planning, investment law, inflation and deflation, portfolio management, and all other aspects of advising private investors.

What Makes “Good Music” Good?

September 28, 2007 on 8:09 am | In Educational

Recently I was asked to review a book by John Winsor, titled, Breaking the Sound Barrier, which I was happy to do since I think it’s a fine book with lots of interesting ideas and solid observations, and the topic – the need for a literary mainstream music – is one which interest me greatly.
Dave Matthews and Tim RaynoldsIn his book he proposed that there can be an objective basis for asserting that some music is better than other and he proposed a fascinating basis, which I won’t presume to synopsize here; buy his book and read it. But that started me thinking about this matter of evaluating music and defining some as better or wors , and that this has always been a troublesome thing. Other arts disciplines share this difficulty, of course, and while some aspects of aesthetics and criticism may apply to many art forms, others are quite specific to the uniqueness of sound occurring over time.
Elvis Presley
1. It the piece technically well executed? Regardless of the style, the performance - whether improvised, derived from notation, or electroacoustically produced - should be free of extraneous notes, sounds, effects, nuances of any kind that do not contribute to communication of the musical ideas.
2. Does it exploit a variety of elements of music, i.e. rhythm, harmony, melody, texture/timbre? Although a quality piece of music need not have all elements equally represented (in fact, many if not most fine works do not), a piece that relies solely on any one element is likely to be less than fulfilling.
3. Is the chief attraction not the music but the words? If the answer is yes, then the piece probably should be considered more as a theater piece or as poetry, than music. For music is the most abstract of arts, and although the marriage of text and music can be transcendent, the best does not need verbal associations to enhance it.
4. Are the elements of the work highly integrated so that each supports the other’s function? Melody, for example, cannot exist without at least some degree of rhythm; rhythm, however, can exist without melody, as can harmony without either rhythm or melody. But it seems that most truly satisfying music exploits the elements in ways that cause the product of them to be greater that the sum of the elements, disparately.
5. Does the piece appeal on a variety of levels – intellectual, emotional, spiritual? A piece can be strong enough in any one of these areas to justify being called good, but the best music somehow seems to appeal on many levels.
6. Is there a feeling of “musicality” about it? That is, does the piece invoke a desire for body movement that corresponds to the gestures in sound? Musicality is distinctly human and inexorably connected to physical movement in ways that are imbedded in our psyches from the first expressive sounds uttered by our ancient ancestors to experiences as recent as our last rehearsal.
7. Is there satisfying formal organization to the way the gestures are presented and developed? Since music occurs over time and for practical reasons, if for no other, music has to have a beginning and end, it seems to be our nature to expect some kind of sequence and development of the ideas that we find satisfying as anticipation and memory blend to create a mental image of form.
8. Is there a good balance between familiarity and variety, appropriate for the length of the piece? Clearly, very extended pieces will need to introduce more variety than very short ones; likewise the task of maintaining coherence within greater diversity is more difficult and expected in longer pieces.
9. After having been listened to many times, does the piece still have appeal, appeal that is based on some new revelations rather than solely on comfortable familiarity? Complexity in and of itself is not especially valuable, but exceptional music seems to have many facets, and holds up well and continues to interest even after many listenings.
10. Do you feel positively stimulated, better, richer, fuller, or improved in some way for having heard the piece? This may seem a lot to expect, but truly great pieces (which, or course most music, even very fine music, will not be) often have a beneficial effect on careful listeners. Like the nutrition axiom “we are what we eat,” (which, although obviously not literal, makes the point that our physical health is affected by our diet) in the arts we are what we consume, and what we habitually listen to affects our spirits. The best music makes us better by stimulating our minds and touching our hearts, and helps us feel better about ourselves and the world.
Franz Ferdinand
This is surely not a comprehensive list, nor is it intended to be; I wouldn’t be that presumptuous. There have been volumes published on aesthetic criticism in music and other arts, and doubtless, many dissertations too. I’m sure other authors have different criteria and many readers of this little piece will have strikingly different views also. But it’s a brief, “quick and dirty” list offered as a starting point for thought and discussion.

Fruits are the diet food

September 4, 2007 on 12:09 pm | In Educational

The term fruit has different meanings depending on
context. In botany, a fruit is the ripened ovary together with seeds of a flowering plant. In many species, the fruit incorporates the ripened ovary and surrounding tissues. Fruits are the means by which flowering plants disseminate seeds. In cuisine, when discussing fruit as food, the term usually refers to those plant fruits that are sweet and fleshy, examples of which include plums, apples and oranges. However, a great
many common vegetables, as well as nuts and grains, are the fruit of the plant species they come from. No single terminology really fits the enormous variety that is found among plant fruits. The cuisine terminology for fruits is inexact and will remain so.

In nutrition, the diet is the sum of food consumed by a person or other organism. Dietary habits are the habitual decisions an individual or culture makes when choosing what foods to eat. Although humans are omnivores, each culture holds some food preferences and some food taboos. Individual dietary choices may be more or less healthy. Proper nutrition requires the proper ingestion and equally important, the absorption of vitamins, minerals, and fuel in the form of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Dietary habits and choices play a significant role in health and mortality, and can also define cultures and play a role in religion.

Some products prevent you not only from putting on weight, but burn fat. For example a well-known fruit – grapefruit, it lowers insulin levels and at this time you haven’t any wish to eat something. If you eat a half of grapefruit or drink 150gr. grapefruit juice with every food intake, you will reduce
on the average 2 kg. in two weeks. Besides, you can also mix up grapefruit juice with orange or lemon juice. These all will strengthen your immunity and open bowels.

Today a lot of people became to stick to the fruit diet. Such kind of activity is very popular and called fruitarianism. It’s the pursuit of a strict form of vegan diet that is limited to eating the ripe fruits of plants and trees. Fruitarians (frugivores or fructarians) eat in principle only the fruit of plants. As with other dietary practices, such as vegetarianism and raw foodism, some people consider themselves fruitarians even if
their diet
food
is not 100% fruit. The reasons for this may be either they simply do not manage to reach this percentage, or that they still are on their way to reach it gradually, or they think or feel that a lower percentage (for instance 75%) is good enough for them. As long as the percentage is higher than 50%, they are (predominantly) fruitarian. Usually fruitarians who include foods other than fruit follow a vegan diet.

When discussing food, the term “fruit” usually refers to just those plant fruits that are sweet and fleshy (including plums, apples, and oranges). Botanically, though, some foods commonly called “vegetables (including the bell pepper,
tomato, and cucumber), as well as nuts and grains, are fruits.

Atoms of life – Nitrogen

August 31, 2007 on 4:08 am | In Educational

Life on the earth is related with many unique properties of the chemical compound on the planet.

One of the parameters is the presence on nitrogen molecules in the earth atmosphere. This gas is almost inert and it is very difficult to make any reaction with this gas. This makes a good mixture with oxygen to protect all organic compounds from immediate oxidation.

Another interesting property of this gas – its ability to produce organic molecules under electric sparkles. According to our knowledge, the electric sparkles together with dominating in earth atmosphere nitrogen many million years ago are produce first nitrogen organic compounds, which were sort of bricks for starting life.

In modern organism nitrogen is involved into almost all organic compounds. For example, nitrogen is a involved into formation of the amino acids – building blocks for all the protein and peptides in any living matter. Nitrogen is involved into construction of the all bases of the deoxyribonucleic and ribonucleic acids. These acids, also known as DNA and RNA – is a matrices for information about all life.

Despite such enormous role on this gas in the living cell, human applications of nitrogen are very small. Liquid Nitrogen is used as a cryogenic material to keep everything in cold conditions. Peroxides of nitrogen are used as a fuel for high energy rockets. Some nitrogen compounds are used in medicine. All other involvement of nitrogen is non-direct, only because “nitrogen is there already”.

Molecules of life – dehydrogenase

August 30, 2007 on 12:08 pm | In Educational

Life is a matter of energy consumption and adoption by living organism. Each organism can only be alive when it consumes some energy. If organism does not use any energy it means that this organism is dead or is in deep-deep-deep sleep. Like some viruses or bacterial cells which can make spores and survive for thousand or even million years in almost any conditions.

Different living organisms can consume and utilize different type of energy. Most common energy is coming from the energy of chemical bonds. Other organism can consume energy from light. Some strange fungi can utilize energy of radiation.

The mechanism of chemical energy transformation and storage is involved the electron and proton transport as a main part. The electron and proton transport is performed by special proteins called dehydrogenases or oxidoreductases and oxidases. These enzymes are very different between each other.

The only common part for them – almost all of them use the same cofactor Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD or Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate, NADP. These cofactors are involved into central system of metabolic pathways in the living cell. NAD is the main cofactor for most dehydrogenases, the main pathway for NADH oxidation is the electron transport and oxidative phosphorilation. NADPH is usually involved as a cofactor for reductases, enzymes that catalyse substrate reduction. The main pathway for NADP reduction is the Pentose phosphate pathway. NADPH synthesized from NADH via mitochondrial energy-linked transhydrogenase. NADP synthesized from NAD by NAD -kinase with subsequent energy transduction from ATP.

Problems and achievements in protein crystallography

August 28, 2007 on 9:08 am | In Educational

Protein crystallography plays one of the most important roles in the structural study of the different proteins. Currently in is impossible to analyze protein functionality without knowing the exact molecular structure of this particular protein. The detailed information about positions of all amino acid residues is crucially important for analysis of protein function.

The protein crystallography is relatively young branch of science, which was started from studies of the DNA-double helix structure by James Watson and Francis Crick in April 1953. Currently, it is possible to solve the structure of whole virus with atomic resolution by this technique.

From this time the bimolecular crystallography made great breakthrough. It was possible only due to the development of computing power of modern computers. The computational requirements of protein crystallography are enormous. For example, the structure of leucine dehydrogenase contains eight polypeptide chains, each of them contains 350 amino acids, and each of them contains about 15 atoms. So, finally we’ve got about 40 thousand atoms. For each atom we can calculate three positional and between one and nine temperature factors. Then for the simple case we need define 4*40,000 = 160 thousand parameters, or about half-million for difficult, high resolution case. Minimization of equation with such amount of independent parameters is not very simple task. Data collection is complicated as well. Modern detectors generate about 30 Mb of raw data per few second. The storage of such informational flow is another problem for computer techniques. Luckily, last few years these computational problems were solved.

Modern protein structures, solved by protein crystallography allow to identify not only the exact position of each atoms, including the position of hydrogen atoms but also detect the structural changes related with the enzymatic reactions. This will allow to investigate in great details many of the enzymatic reactions, which was previously only predicted on the basis of the catalytic amino acid residues and on the basis of the static picture of these amino acid residues. These data will be very useful in medicine, biotechnology and other field of human life. The most important is the drug design which is impossible without the knowledge of enzymatic act.

Despite the great progress in protein structural studies, there are lot of protein problems which not solved yet. For example, despite the exact knowledge about structures of more than ten thousand protein structures, we do not understand the principles of protein organization and it is almost impossible to predict protein structure. The other problem is to understand the evolution of proteins. Currently we know the static picture of protein structures, but how they appear from scratch? At the moment only small ideas and examples of protein evolution are known. Another great white area in our knowledge is the protein crystallization. We can produce almost any protein by genetic techniques. After this protein purification is a quite routine procedure with the set of standard routines and procedures, but the final step, the protein crystallization is a matter of luck, rather than science. The only one thing can get the results – many trials of different crystallization conditions and maybe lucky you to grow 0.1mm protein crystal. Actually, the protein crystallization is related with the quality of the protein purification, that is why it is very important to do all protein purification in one day.

As a conclusion it is possible to note, that despite that protein crystallography is more than 50 year old, this scientific area still have many unsolved problems and it is very interesting and perspective area of science for young biologist, chemist and physicist.

Molecules of life – Lysozyme

The most interesting properties of the living organisms are self-defence. Generally, all living organisms are exposed to two types of threats – predators and parasites. In this article we will discuss the very basic technique fro organism protection from the simplest parasites – bacterial infection.

The biggest problem for an organism protection system is to get access to the internal part of bacterial cell. Usually bacterial wall is covered by polysaccharide wall, formed by N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylmuramic acid sugars.

In highest organisms this cell-wall is demolished by breaking of the beta (1-4) glycosidic bond between these sugars by Lysozyme. Lysozyme usually present in the all mucosal secretion such as saliva and tears. The highest concentration of this enzyme, about 3% from all proteins is observed in chicken egg-white.

Lysozyme structure is very simple – this is a single domain protein which work as a monomer. The Lysozyme structure was discovered in 1965 by David Phillips. First description of this protein was done in 1922 by Alexander Fleming. From this time Lysozyme is one of the most used proteins in educational purposes. It is very cheap and easy to purify this protein from the chicken egg in almost all amounts. Furthermore the Lysozyme crystallization is an easiest experiment between all other protein crystallization experiments. Even novice technician can repeat Lysozyme crystallization without any problems.

In most of the organism this protein used for protection, but as everywhere, somebody can yuse goods for evil purposes. So in some bacteriophage viruses the Lysozyme from their tail is used to break the bacterial wall for further infection.

Educational problems

In my state, Connecticut, children are not required to attend school, but the law requires children to be given instruction in certain basic skills and knowledge, and parents are responsible whether they send them to school or not. Public schools offer what they call “educational opportunities” but they take no responsibility for their results.

Many parents assume that the school system is educating children in the basic skills of reading, writing and calculating, but today’s schools are failing to provide that basic instruction. Not only are the skills neglected, but they are obscured by poor teaching methods and inadequately trained teachers. In fact, many call the schools an educational dis-service.

Because of the schools’ poor quality, private businesses now offer remediation for children whose schools have failed them. Even more telling, some of those businesses are designed to deal with the psychological problems that children acquire as a result of attending public schools.

Many people wonder why their children spend so much time in schools where they learn so little of what they need and want to know. Even worse, they wonder why the children are having so many psychological problems. While the schools blame the children, the parents, TV, and society, they never blame themselves. Yet, we now realize that the educational malpractice and the children’s problems often come from the same place: the schools.

While parents have the ultimate responsibility for their children’s learning, when they send them to the government schools, a strange phenomenon occurs. The schools do not allow the parents to assume their responsibilities for determining what that learning will include. Administrators repeat their mantra, “Trust us, we’re professionals” and, “Parents are not qualified.” However, today, the public is learning that those employees are not always what they claim to be and the schools are not doing what parents want them to do, but in many cases, exactly the opposite.

What we discover is that the schools are not controlled by the communities they claim to serve. Even though the school establishment tells the public that local control exists, the fact is that local school boards are directed by the state, under the control of bureaucrats and politicians. Not only is there no local control, but with new federal laws such as No Child Left Behind, even state control is losing ground to the feds.

The results are parent frustration, school board impotence, children being denied their proper skills, political indoctrination, and many more ills. Today, school employees create pretenses and excuses for what some call a culture of corruption and deception. It has become the job of superintendents to hide the many ulterior motives and agendas the government has for its schools, while pretending that its purpose is what parents want – even though it is not. The contrast between what parents want and what schools offer is clear and the gap is large, and every day parents are losing their power to change it.

The superintendent has become spokesperson for the government, often in opposition to the community. Today’s superintendent stands between the parents and the education establishment while also being puppet master of the school board. He is ready with a mountain of statistics and a blizzard of spin and nonsense to defend what amounts to fraud, mismanagement and corruption. His message to the parents is that they and their children are helpless pawns in the government game called public school.
