Dojinshi are self-published Japanese or English works, usually manga or novels. They are often the work of amateurs, though some professional artists participate as a way to publish material outside the regular industry. Over the last decade, the practice of creating dojinshi manga has expanded significantly, attracting thousands of creators and fans alike. Advances in personal publishing technology have also fueled this expansion by making it easier for dojinshi creators to write, draw, promote, publish, and distribute their works.

A major part of dojinshi, whether based on mainstream publications or original, contains sexually explicit material, due to both the large demand for such publications and absence of restrictions official publishing houses have to follow. Indeed, often the main point of a given dojinshi is to present an explicit version of a popular show’s characters.

An interesting kind of manga is Yuri manga. The main idea of which to show a beautiful and at the same time hard love between women. Yuriko is a girl, she is along but an internationally known pop idol, actress, model, and object of devotion for many fans all over the world. The manga shows us a life and presents the adventures of the girl.

Yaoi is a publishing genre which originated in Japan and often encompasses manga, dojinshi, anime, and fan art. Yaoi manga shows homosexual love between male characters and is sexually explicit.

Yaoi has spread beyond Japan yaoi material is available in the United States, as well as other Western and Eastern nations worldwide.

Though yaoi manga is sometimes used to refer to any male homosexual content in film and print media, particularly in works created by females, that is generally considered a misuse of the term.
